Half a Glass Verses a Full Glass, Positive Verses Negative, How About Reality?

Ok before we begin there are many out there who will quote, recite, and provide many sources of hope, inspiration, encouragement and a positive approach. To that I say great, we truly need those types, especially in this day and age. However in my opinion they seem to miss the mark when people vent, complain, recite or state their problems, situations, experiences. You see that is the reality of their moment and in reality each and every day they get up, face their problems head on and try to move forward and in my opinion they are providing more real examples of hope, inspiration then those who are not undergoing their specific trials but give advice. Like "why don't you", or "have you tried" and then don't believe when you say you have.

Oh sure many have undergone the same types of situations and come through successfully and yes with a positive, never giving up attitude. Always looking at the bright side of things. Yes, they turned off my electricity but I'm still alive and well and I do have candles. I really don't need that TV or Cable now do I and they are right. Oh so what if I do not eat today, or my children, or my elderly mom, there are agencies out there that can help and all I need to do is find one. Yes and so what if I am being evicted and have no money for a place, it will work out, God will provide. Need I go on?

The sad fact is regardless of the circumstances a person finds themselves in they have to get up and face reality and try or just plain give up. In fact I more empathy towards those who give up now then ever in my life. I have come close many a day. So yes, many run from it and try to hide but it doesn't go away. No like the usurious credit card company who hounds you until death and then your loved ones over unsecured debt it continues well past your demise. A debt you wanted to pay back but they made unattainable. Yes and the poor power company who has no program because they have to worry about the interests of all their customers. Of course the bank that you have banked with for most of your life who "WAS" your friendly banker and now, finds you a leper, irresponsible, not Credit Worthy.

So one can talk about how you look at a glass, half full or half empty but face some of the things listed in the last paragraph and you have a half empty glass no matter how you cut the pie. Hope, well we all hope but that doesn't mean it will happen. People hope for cures from an illness, some get, some don't. Some pray for miracles, some get, some don't. In fact the odds are greater you won't. The ones who get may cry miracle, the ones who don't, well keep praying, there is a reason for your problem perhaps sin some will say? Oh really, I thought we are all sinners and fall short? Perhaps a lack of faith? Perhaps you didn't give or pray hard enough, or do what you were supposed to do, who knows. The facts are you didn't get and they don't know why either?

Oh and don't forget there are agencies to help. Yes our government, right? One word for that, fool. Yes and of course there are TV stars giving advice all the time but they can't resolve their own problems. How to love, how to date, how to succeed in business, yes, how to everything but they don't have your problems, your situation and what was available to them for help may not be for you. Yet they are swamped with people hoping, looking, searching for an answer.

A few years ago I wrote an award winning poem called "Unfortunately". Listen intently and you will hear that word often. In my opinion it describes this era we are living in and is the word of this century.

So, Half a Glass verses a full glass, positive verses negative, how about reality impacts us all. It is how we get up each and every day and cope. Cope with the exploiters, the phonies, the liars, the greedy, the professors, oh yes they are the best kind and of course our leaders who put us in this mess.

Last night on the news there was a supposedly educated man claiming to be a teacher. He was voting for Obama because he "felt" he would lean more toward the middle class and he was a poor teacher, not making much and he "hoped" he would do something about raising his pay. Oh well, my opinion of educated, lets leave it at that. I have worked in schools and know first hand, but the said fact is this man is looking at the positive with nothing to substantiate his belief. He is in effect hoping. I must say that he is taking action but is it the right action? Is he placing his hopes in the right thing? Does he know, has he investigated? By nature of his comments, no. Meanwhile he has to face "reality" and no one, no not one, has anything to offer about that. Of course he could check out what Obama has done or failed to do not what he professes.
So my friends, no job, no credit, no help, no nada, nothing, zero, zilch. Government give me a break, unless you are illegal go away. Churches, empty of cash by the second day of the month. People, well most average types all in the same stew, hanging on day to day and one little burp and then they know exactly what I am getting at. No, it is not until it hits home and then you know. The again we can't forget you always have Half a Glass verses a full glass, positive verses negative, however, not forget reality. It can be a real eye opener?

For the believer there can only be one thing "faith". For the believer they understand this is a sign they are believers. As Paul noted "My Grace is sufficient for you". That is what motivates the believer, that is all the positive thinking a believer needs. Yet, it also says, deal with reality.
