6 Ways to Learn About Change from The New James Bond Movie - Casino Royale

There seems to me, that there is a pattern when change is being introduced. Especially when you are trying to change and develop yourself as a person. The new James Bond movie was released at the weekend to both critical and box office success. The producers decided to change the "Bond formula" and I think we can learn a lot about change when we look at what happened during the making of Casino Royale.

1) Change is difficult.
When Daniel Craig was announced as the new James Bond - the fans didn't like him. "A blonde James Bond? No way!" they cried. You see, people don't like change. They want to stick to what they know. Its "safe" for them. Change is difficult and people find it hard to accept change even if it is for the better. People can feel threatened but change is necessary.

2) Change is necessary.
The James Bond movies were becoming outdated. There were too many gimmicks, the stories were implausible and the characters were unrealistic. The producers saw that and recognized a change was necessary. They analyzed what wasn't working and got rid of it. They tried a new approach from a different perspective in order for the series to survive. They took risks.

3) Don't listen to the negative people.
It was as if people wanted this movie to fail. With the choice of actor not proving popular, the old formula for the James Bond movies was changed and there was more emphasis on character and less on gadgets. The film had plenty of negative comments as it was being made but the makers of the movie stuck to their guns! They believed in what they were doing and believed it was the right thing to do.

4) Do your best and success will follow.
Each member of the film crew pulled together and worked as a team to the best of their ability to make this movie a success! They even broke a world stunt record with the most flips made of a car in a movie!

5) Learn from your mistakes.
The movie makers could look back to what they did in the past and clearly see their mistakes. They learnt from these and made the necessary changes to make the movie a success.

6) Adapt to stay successful.
Despite the resistance to change and the negative comments from people not involved in the making of the movie -Casino Royale has become a critical and box-office success. The producers of the movie adapted to survive and they did survive and the series looks to continue for a long time to come.

I think we could all learn a lot about change and success from the making of the new James Bond movie!
Good Luck,
Allen
